SUPER HOT COLUMN SHC490B/C
The Hot finished square hollow sections “SUPER HOT COLUMN” (SHC490B/C) is a steel product certified by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. The material conforms to JIS G 3136 SN490B/C. (Certification No. MSTL-0051)
The flat plate sections, corner sections and seam welded sections throughout the cross-section of square hollow sections have homogeneous microstructure and equivalent or better material properties compared with SN grade products. When used for medium- to high-rise buildings with spans over 10 meters, SUPER HOT COLUMN can reduce the steel column weight by more than approximately 10% compared to the cold formed columns because SUPER HOT COLUMN does not require additional strength for columns as specially.

1. Tensile test pieces shall be taken from the central part of a side free of welded portions in the pipe axial direction.
2. Upon agreement between the parties concerned with delivery, the tensile test can be conducted for corner sections with a No. 14B or No. 4 piece as a test piece.
3. The impact test shall be applied to SUPER HOT COLUMN of more than 12 mm in thickness.
4. Impact test pieces shall be taken from the central part of a side free of welded portions in the pipe axial direction such that the center of the test pieces is a quarter of the thickness from the outside surface. If this is not possible, then the test pieces shall be taken from a position as close to that position as possible. The cut shall be made in the thickness direction.
5. Upon agreement between the parties concerned with delivery, the impact test can be conducted also for corner sections with a No. 4 piece as a test piece.
